Bespoke, oversized whiteboards and noticeboards

For notice boards and whiteboards the standard sizes are based around the old imperial measurement of feet.

These are:

3' x 2' (900 x 600mm)

4' x 3' (1200 x 900mm)

4' x 4' (1200 x 1200mm)

5' x 3' (1500 x 1200mm)

6' x 4' (1800 x 1200mm)

8' x 4' (2400 x 1200mm)

If you are able to select one of these sizes for your wall, then as a standard size they will generally be cheaper and delivered quicker.

 Any board outside of the above measurements are classed as bespoke or made to order boards that will require cutting and reframing. As an example if you wanted a 1700 x 1100mm sized board for a particular sized wall space this would be cut down from an 1800 x 1200mm board.

As you can see the largest board size or raw material sheet size a made to measure board can be made from as a single piece board is 2400 x 1200mm. If a board is required over this width or height measurement (or both!) then it will need to be manufactured as a "multi piece board".

There is a standard symmetrical way of producing multi piece boards which is best explained by some examples. Multi piece boards require a white joining strip that has a "H" shaped cross profile which the board sections butt up into from either side. This joining strip is @ 24mm wide and although white is not part of the whiteboard that can be written on to. As standard these strips are used vertically (running from the top to the bottom of the board)

As an example if a customer requested a 3200 x 1200 white board the standard way of manufacturing this would be to split the overall board into two equally sized 1600mm wide sections so that the board is symmetrical around the vertical joining strip as below.

Multi piece notice boards are slightly different to whiteboards in that they cannot be joined with a joining strip. The two options used then are to either produce equally sized boards to cover the overall display area, but with aluminium framing around each individual panel. A more aesthetically pleasing finish is to instead use unframed noticeboards. These boards can simply be butted up against each other, and as the join is fabric meets fabric, then the joining line is nothing like as intrusive as two aluminium frames up against each other.
